I have discovered a very effective tactic for dealing with scammers. . . .every time they spam one of their bogus contracts in local, simple paste 30-50 lines of single characters! * * * * etc. . .
This will not only remove the offending contract from view on the public channel, but is highly frustrating to the would be scammer as it prevents his potenial victims from even seeing his bait!
Based on the response I have recieved after only a few minutes of trying this tactic in Jita I can say two things:
1) CCP will never put a stop to scamming because I believe the majority of the scam artist are CCP-alts
2) These tactics work incredibly well when you can get two or even three people working in concert
Rise up citizen! Strike back at the people who are ruining this game! Fight them with every means at your disposal!

petition me all you want. . . just make sure you spell my name correctly.
Here are the facts folks. . .people who get scammed tend to quit the game. Thats less money for CCP, fewer players for our game and and a poorer playing enviroment for all concerned.
Taking this phenomena to it's highly illogical conclusion would see our universe populated by only the handful of asshat scammers trying their lame tricks on each other, as all the 'REAL' Players leave for whatever the new big MMORPG is.
I dare CCP to stop me! I may spam in local channel, and thats annoying. . .but some of these scam artists are making four or five posts for every one of mine! Ban me, Gag me, kick me out of the game. . .but if you get me, then you MUST get them too!
During this afternoons session of messing with the scammers in Jita, there were no less than four other people posting anti-scam spam. . .for at least one hour no-one got scammed in Jita.
I'd take a ban for that.

Edited by: Michael Hoare on 12/05/2009 01:05:14 Actually. . .CCP Scammer-alts do make a lot of sense in a perverse and twisted fashion.
You see, CCP is unable to do anything about chinese slave-labor being used to manufacture and sell ISK in their game. . .they simply do not have the resources to fight the ISK-Sellers. . .
So they allow scammers. . .
As people have so clearly and repeatedly pointed out, only idiots get scammed. . .i.e. only new players with lots of money get scammed. . e.g. only ISK-Buyers get scammed. . .
So perhaps CCP allows scamming as a back-door inflation control.
Does not matter to me, I hate thieves and s****of all stripes. So whether CCP merely allows scamming or tacitly approves of it matters nothing to me, I will fight!
(what the hell is S****? I typed scum. . . four letters meaning 'fungus')
